The American-Brazilian Aesthetic Meeting® gathers members of the global aesthetics community in Park City, Utah, for clinical education, international exchange, and the establishment of valuable professional relationships. Under the name ABAM, this annual aesthetic conference is open to established leaders, rising voices, and professionals coming from both surgical and nonsurgical aesthetics.
Because it has more than 100 speakers and includes participation from over 20 countries, ABAM enables attendees to become familiar with ideas, techniques, and different points of view from all around the world. The fact that the event has a focused format allows for careful discussion during the sessions and for real connections to be made over the whole meeting.
ABAM is an aesthetic conference coming from a number of disciplines and was established by Dr. Renato Saltz in order to provide a forum for leading figures from the United States, Brazil, and the wider international community to work together.
At first the meeting took place in alternate years with the venue being held in Brazil and Park City; currently though, ABAM meets each winter in Park City, and there it has developed into the largest plastic surgery and aesthetic skiing conference in the world.
The program combines expertise from a range of fields including plastic surgery, dermatology, facial plastic surgery, oculoplastic surgery, nonsurgical aesthetics, practice management, and aesthetic technology. During the event, attendees have the opportunity to look at new techniques, take part in continuing education, assess emerging devices, and talk about the changes that are affecting aesthetic practices worldwide.
ABAM is likewise a nonprofit organisation having a charitable aim, and the net proceeds go to the Image Reborn Foundation for the purpose of carrying out its work with breast cancer survivors.

ABAM welcomes professionals coming from all parts of the aesthetics community; the attendees comprise plastic surgeons, dermatologists, facial plastic surgeons, oculoplastic surgeons, residents, fellows, medical students, nurse practitioners, physician associates, nurses, aestheticians, practice management professionals, consultants and industry representatives.
The variety of experience and expertise available enhances the meeting. Surgeons are able to see how colleagues from other specialties deal with matters they are familiar with. Nonsurgical providers can gain a better understanding of anatomy, technique, and technology. Meanwhile, practice leaders and industry partners can take part in discussions regarding innovation, patient experience, and the future of aesthetic medicine.
People who are married, the guests and families are also invited to visit Park City during the meeting.
ABAM offers a demanding educational program together with the personal interaction and open exchange that are often hard to find at a large convention. People attend in order to enhance their knowledge, come across new ideas, meet other colleagues, and join an international professional community.
ABAM provides both surgical and nonsurgical educational programmes that reflect the growing interconnectedness of aesthetic medicine, and the sessions enable participants to focus on their own specialties while at the same time gaining a broader perspective from other fields.
The text on surgical programming looks at the existing methods, advanced techniques, the process of making clinical decisions, and the various developments in plastic surgery, facial plastic surgery, and oculoplastic surgery, while nonsurgical programming examines injectables, anatomy, energy-based technology, skin treatments, and other areas that are influencing aesthetic practices.
Hands-on workshops and live demonstrations provide attendees with the opportunity to interact with the information in a practical environment. The programme on practice management extends the discussion to cover leadership, technology, patient experience, and the operational decisions that underpin a successful aesthetic practice.

Having a first-rate faculty is important, and getting access to them can make the experience even more valuable.
The specific format of ABAM promotes interaction and discussion. Participants are free to ask detailed questions, compare their own experiences, and carry on the conversations beyond the lecture hall. Since faculty members, the attendees, and the industry partners eat together and take part in the same social events and are all based in Park City, they have plenty of opportunities to get to know one another.
As a result of these conversations there are often new clinical insights, research ideas, professional partnerships and friendships which last long after the meeting.
ABAM provides a platform so that experienced experts and up-and-coming professionals can take part in the same discussions. It introduces new concepts and techniques for debate, enabling the attendees to think about how promising ideas might affect future aesthetic care.
The meeting also offers valuable exposure to residents, fellows, early-career doctors, and other professionals who are presenting original work in the field. By addressing an international audience, new voices have the opportunity to take part, obtain constructive feedback, and gain recognition within the aesthetics community.
The exchange ensures that the programme remains forward-looking at the same time as it supports the next generation of aesthetic leaders.
In the past ABAM has welcomed people from the United States, Brazil, Mexico, Turkey, France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Argentina, Australia, and a number of other countries.
The nightly events, shared meals, the tradeshow, and the informal time in Park City all contribute to making networking an integral part of the meeting rather than something separate. This gives attendees the opportunity to reestablish contact with colleagues they have known for a long time, meet possible collaborators, talk to people who make decisions in the industry, and build relationships among different specialties and regions.
The atmosphere is warm, professional and personal, and each year a number of attendees return because the event offers education, international friendship and access to people who are helping to advance aesthetic medicine.

The programme consists of educational sessions in the morning and afternoon, with a midday break which allows the participants to visit Park City. During this time, skiers and snowboarders can go to the slopes while the rest of the attendees can take part in exploring the area, meeting up with their colleagues, or making the most of the resort.
The Grand Summit Hotel has a facility that allows visitors to both ski in and ski out, thus combining the meeting experience with that of the mountains. In Park City you will find dining options, shopping facilities, spas, artistic and cultural offerings, family-oriented activities, and various attractions associated with the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Skiing is included in the ABAM tradition, but it is by no means a necessity. The schedule and the place chosen provide something suitable for people with all kinds of interests. While families and visitors can enjoy Park City, the registered participants take part in the educational programme.
The effects of ABAM go beyond the meeting; the net proceeds are donated to the Image Reborn Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by Dr. Renato Saltz to meet the emotional needs of women affected by breast cancer.
Image Reborn offers free healing retreats at which breast cancer survivors can rest, connect with one another, and get support in a community that is understanding. The organisation's attendance, presentations, exhibitions, or partnerships help to keep this important mission going.
